New Decade, New Dreams
Updated: Jul 29
This is one of my favorite pictures from 2019. And not just because it’s my kid.
You see, this was taken during one of our Ha Ha Tonka hikes, and we had just discovered this place. I’ve been to Ha Ha Tonka a dozen times, and had never seen this area before. My daughter’s expression here captures it for all of us. The rock face wall, the valley of green on the other side, leading to another rock face wall. Cave behind us. It was all the awesome I aspire toward when planning a hike.
It just goes to show you that even if you visit a place over and over again, there will always be something new to discover!
I say “new decade, new dreams” but I’m not sure if I actually have any “new” dreams. I think my main goal has always been the same: to share what I saw, in the hopes to inspire someone else to get out there and see it, too. I love to enlighten people, and I know that probably sounds totally arrogant, but it’s true. I want to know you left our conversation with something new to marinate. Something you can then pass on to someone else.
I also like to create. A lot. It’s probably an unhealthy compulsion by now (ha-ha) but I can’t stop. My primary tools are watercolors and cameras. I love to take pictures and to paint and I love to work intuitively. So I can not only show you what I saw, but how I felt when I saw it.
Hopefully my art and/or words will lead you down some cool paths of your own.
Until next time, I hope your coffee is hot and your trail is less traveled by.
