Statement: Working with a variety of mediums, from gouache to oil pastels, I love to explore patterns, playful methods, and imaginative ideas. My work might be seen as a blend of folklore art, zendoodling/zentangling, and naïve art, as I draw a lot of inspiration from all three of these methods. My goal as an illustrator/artist is to fuel not only my own imagination, but others' as well, and I hope that someday I can place myself in the same bracket as a few of my favorite artists including Alexandra Dvornikova and Kelly Louise Judd.

Bio: I was born in 1987 on an American Air Force base in Torrejón de Ardoz, Spain. For the first three years of my life, my family traveled to various places in both the US and Spain before we finally settled in Missouri. Growing up, I dabbled in all forms of creative expression, from writing short stories to acting in plays, to playing saxophone in the school marching band. My earliest artistic outlets were classes taken during summer school. I learned how to print film in a darkroom, acted and sang on stage for Show Choir and Musical Theater, and I thoroughly enjoyed pop-up book classes and quilting courses.

I attended Columbia College in Missouri, where I earned a BA in Psychology. Despite my many aspirations, and my full-time job as a preschool teacher, I still found time to take photos, paint, and write. In my early thirties I decided to sell some of my artwork to help supplement the household funds while I stayed home with our daughter. During that time, I began to immerse myself in the local art community, appearing in shows and entering that whole gallery scene, which I love being a part of. However, the Covid-19 pandemic has changed my perspective a bit, and has shown me that what I really want is to help others, and I feel like I can best do that through my stories and illustrations.

I currently live in Jefferson City, Missouri with my husband, daughter, two cats, a canary, and an ornery husky named Howl.
